For television: She wrote music for the Greek serials Galini, Loxandra, Patouchas, And the City Spoke, Closed Streets, etc., respectively collaborating with the directors Vassilis Georgiadis, Grigoris Grigoriou, Alexis Damianos, Giannis Smaragdis andGiorgos Michailidis. Special interest was aroused by her collaboration with French researcher and director Chris Marker for the series L’ heritage de la Chouette (The Legacy of the Owl) which was shot for the French television channel TF1 (1989). In 2000 - 2001, the Opera of Dusseldorf produced the ballet Phaedra based on music written by Eleni Karaindrou, with choreography by Johann Ulrich (repeated in 2002). Since 1991, she has collaborated with the internationally acclaimed record company ECM and its creator, Manfred Eicher, releasing 5 albums, 4 of which contain music for films (Music for Films, The Suspended Step of the Stork, Ulysses’ Gaze, Eternity and a Day) and the last one, Trojan Women, containing music for Euripides’ Trojan Women ( as was put on in Epidaurus theatre (2001) by director Antonis Antypas with translation by K.X. Myris. Eleni Karaindrou collaborated with Camerata for the recording of the music for Eternity and a Day and also for 11 concerts in Greece and abroad (1999 - 2002). She has also collaborated with important European orchestras (The Stuttgart Orchestra, The Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, etc).
Her concerts have all met with artistic success and immense response from the public: at Herod Atticus’ Odeon (Athens Festival 1988), at the Ancient Theatre in Epidaurus (Epidauria 1993) at the Athens Concert Hall (1998) and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2000), at the Theatre of the Forest (Dimitria 1999), in Cyprus’ Ancient Kourion Theatre (Cypria 2000) etc. Her concerts in major European Festivals were also greatly acclaimed (England, Italy, Germany).
